HALO

Weight loss, pregnancy, and genetics are all factors that can cause the tummy to develop loose, sagging skin and a bulging appearance. Though exercise can provide limited toning benefits, no amount of exercise or dieting can restore firmness to loose skin or repair muscles that have been stretched and separated as a result of pregnancy.

What is HALO?

HALO by Sciton® is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. Combining micro-ablative and non-ablative lasers in a single device, this technology was developed to effectively achieve beautiful skin rejuvenation without the recovery period that comes with more aggressive laser treatments. In addition, HALO is excellent for all skin types. HALO can treat:
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Large pores
  • Sun damage (age spots, brown spots)
  • Dyschromia
  • Scars
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Discoloration
  • Melasma
  • Acne scarring
  • Lack of collagen

The science of HALO

The HALO laser works by using dual wavelengths (micro-ablative and non-ablative) in one device, which address the dermis and epidermis at the same time.
This means that 25% to 30% of the skin can be resurfaced in each treatment.
In regards to other laser procedures, this results in better outcome with less recovery time. The majority of patients see improved skin after just 1 or 2 treatments. Because HALO uses two different wavelengths, treatments can be personalized based on each patient’s unique needs. HALO truly offers the best of both worlds.

What happens during a HALO treatment?

Before treatment, you will be given a topical numbing agent will be applied, as well as protective eyewear. Once you’ve been numbed, the handheld laser device will begin working.

The sensation may feel hot or like prickling, but it is very tolerable. We are happy to offer cooling packs and cooling cream if necessary. HALO treatments typically take 1 to 2 hours.

Recovery

The “hot” sensation may last for an hour or so after treatment, but can be easily managed with cooling packs or gel. The most common side effects that patients experience include mild swelling, redness, a “sunburn” feeling, dry or rough skin, and small dark spots on the skin. These side effects are all common and temporary. The majority of patients are able to resume their regular activities the day after treatment.

Results

Many patients see improved skin tone and texture after only 1 or 2 treatments. Early results will be visible 2 to 5 days following your first HALO treatment, with your skin’s health and appearance progressing over time.
The best results appear at 2 to 3 weeks, after which a period of dermal regeneration happens. During this time, your skin will continue to look better and better over a few months. These results last for years.
