Lower Body Lift

Weight loss, pregnancy, and genetics are all factors that can cause the tummy to develop loose, sagging skin and a bulging appearance. Though exercise can provide limited toning benefits, no amount of exercise or dieting can restore firmness to loose skin or repair muscles that have been stretched and separated as a result of pregnancy.
In some cases, a panniculectomy is included to remove the excess skin that hangs over the genitals and thighs like an apron. At his Houston office, triple board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Henry Mentz performs lower body lift surgery to help his patients restore their appearance after excessive loose skin develops due to dramatic weight loss, weight fluctuation, natural aging, or other reasons.

Surgical Technique

A technique that is commonly used to lift the lower body is a belt lipectomy. To comprehensively improve the lower body’s appearance, a body lift is frequently combined with tummy tuck surgery and an outer thigh lift, while an inner thigh lift is performed as a separate procedure.
Dr. Mentz is nothing short of a magician. I went to him for an abdominoplasty in November of 2015 and his work has been life changing. His “bedside manner” is equal to his skill.

Surgical Technique

Following your surgery, Dr. Mentz may recommend an overnight stay in one of his recovery suites, where you will be cared for by our registered nursing staff or patients who live within 20 miles of our office can have a lower body lift performed as an outpatient procedure.
For outpatient procedures, Dr. Mentz will offer a visit to your home by a plastic surgery nurse who is trained to assist you with your recovery. The nurse will monitor change any dressings, assist you with your medication, and provide Dr. Mentz with an update.
Recovery can range from 5-7 days for liposuction and up to 2 weeks for more extensive body lifting procedures. The results of body contouring are typically long-lasting provided that a stable weight is maintained.

FAQ

Better Recovery?

Better Recovery?

To reduce swelling and help your body conform to its new contours, you may be fitted with a compression garment which will be worn for approximately 4 weeks. In some cases, Dr. Mentz may also place small drain tubes under your skin to collect excess fluid. Any drain tubes and stitches are removed in about 1-2 weeks. Take it easy as you recover, you shouldn’t do anything strenuous, including lifting, for the first several weeks.

Why Dr. Mentz?

As the nation’s first triple board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Henry Mentz is respected nationwide for his introduction of innovative liposuction and body contouring techniques. Dr. Mentz introduced a groundbreaking new method to improve buttocks augmentation surgery to the respected International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at its 2010 meeting. The technique utilizes a special pump to speed the process and volume of fat that can be grafted into the buttocks, resulting in a fuller, shapelier contour than can be achieved through the more limited and cumbersome syringe method of fat grafting.
