Lower Facelift
The cosmetic treatments individuals choose will vary greatly from decade to decade — with new changes requiring attention and old issues needing to be maintained.
About the lower facelift
A lower facelift focuses on all the parts that are below the corners of your mouth. This includes the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline, submental (under chin) area, jowls, and the neck.
The main goals of this type of facelift are to soften lines and wrinkles, improve the appearance of creases around the mouth, remove excess neck skin, and to tighten and define the loose skin of the jawline and jowls.

Neck lift?
A lower facelift and a neck lift both focus on the lower half of the face and jawline, but a lower facelift targets sagging skin and wrinkles around the cheeks and jawline, while a neck lift concentrates more on improving lax skin of the neck and a double chin.

Surgery, recovery, and results
Dr. Mentz performs facelift surgery at his AAAASF-certified SurgiCentre facility in Houston under general anesthesia. Directly after your facelift, a cooling mask will be placed on your skin to help with bruising and swelling. In addition, small tubes may be inserted beneath the skin to prevent fluid accumulation. If necessary, Dr. Mentz may recommend an overnight stay at one of his SurgiCentre’s recovery suites, where you will be cared for by a highly trained registered nurse who specializes in plastic surgery recovery.
Moreover, if you live within 20 miles of our facility, Dr. Mentz will offer a visit to your home by a nurse who is trained to assist you with post-operative recovery. The nurse will change any dressings, monitor your recovery, assist you with your medication, and provide Dr. Mentz with an update on your consultation. This is part of Dr. Mentz’s signature concierge surgical and recovery experience. Patients are typically able to return to work in 1 to 2 weeks following surgery. As swelling and bruising subsides, your final results will become visible.
